Calling All Artists K-12

Thanks to a grant award from the Ohio Arts Council, the

Willoughby Arts Collaborative is putting together a Call for Art and corresponding traveling art exhibit for  youth ages 5-18 who live, work, learn and play in the City of Willoughby.

 

Students are invited to respond to a prompt that together helps to illustrate that our Willoughby community is a beautiful tapestry of people from a variety of backgrounds from around the globe.

 

The art will be digitally submitted, reviewed by jurors,

100 pieces will be selected to be showcased in a traveling exhibit,

200 will be on digital display. Ribbons will be awarded by Mayor

Fiala’s office.

 

The exhibit will travel to Stella’s Art Gallery, Willoughby-Eastlake

Schools, Andrews Osborne Academy, The Fine Arts Association.

 

Art prompt:

 

- High School - Family Roots

 

- Middle School- Traditional Family Foods/Meals

 

- Elementary School- Traditional Family Celebrations

 

 

Show Rules and Timeline

 

- All 2D Visual or Digital Art Mediums Welcomed

 

- Limit of three submissions per artist

 

- Free Digital Submissions

 

- All Submissions are Now Due Feb 18th 2022

 

- The Juried show will be on a traveling exhibit Through Willoughby and be on display at       

 

  • Stella's Art Gallery  March 12th- March 26th

 

  • Willoughby Eastlake Schools   March 28th- April 8th

 

  • Andrews Osborne Academy- International Festival April 11th- April 23rd

 

  • The Fine Arts Association  April 25th- May 9th

 

Of the 100 the jury will select a 1st – 4th place for each age range, and an overall Best of Show Ribbons to be awarded by the Mayor to the students at the opening event at Stella’s Art Gallery

Jury Includes:

Carol Leikala: retired Art Teacher from Berkshire High School, has taught k-12th grades
Delinda Mariani: K-12 certified Art Teacher for the Cleveland Metropolitan District
Nancy Nelson-Brotz, Visual Arts Director at the Ashtabula Fine Arts.
